How To Write Footnotes. Tab or indent Footnote and Endnote entries 5 spaces from the left margin. Footnotes should match with a superscript number at the end of the sentence referencing the source.
In others superscript numbers are preferred. Afterwards the surname of the author and the page number is sufficient. Click on the place in the text where you want the first number to appear.
To add a footnote place your insertion point in your text where you want the footnote to appear and then click the Insert Footnote button.
In that group click the button that says Insert Footnote. Place your cursor where you would like the superscript to appear. Navigate to the end of the sentence where the footnote will go. If you use a 12-point font for your main text use a 10-point font for your footnotes.
