Adjust the amount of each liquid according to how many handles you need to clean. Slow cook the bones to remove any extra flesh gristle or other soft tissue. Only wet the surface of the bone as soaking bone all the way through will hasten decomposition or cause the bone to crack upon drying.
Fill a bowl with water and dish soap and use an old toothbrush to gently scrub and clean your bones.
Allow it to dry completely mine took about half an hour but larger bones may take a little longer. The initial step in cleaning a skull is simmering the skull after the hair and hide are removed. Use an acetone soaked rag and buff the skull to get rid of the shine. Its relatively efficient at about 12 to 16 hours and it does not require much effort.
